In a Dutch camp during the war of national independence in the Indonesian archipelago, a number of fighters are taken prisoners. Parman become chess playmate of Koenen, a young Dutch officer, in order to gather some information. He found out about the plan of death penalty for two fellow inmates. Parman makes an escape plan for them. One manages to get away, but the other one gets shot. Tension among the inmates escalates as they suspect Parman of betraying them on purpose by feeding information to Koenen.

The restoration of Barb Wired Fence is done mainly using a vintage positive copy which survives without its opening or end title sequence. The original negative has not been found. These surviving reels are showing advanced deterioration and they have severe physical damage due to projection use. Physical repair was done to prepare the reels for digital acquisitions. The reels were scanned in 2K resolution, digitally cleaned and restored. The restoration result was produced as digital file in 2K resolution.
