The film tells story of two jazz musicians who find themselves on the run after the police raid the speakeasy they perform in and they inadvertently stumble upon a gang war. With no money and nowhere to hide, they disguise themselves as women and manage to join an all-female band, Society Syncopators, where they meet Sugar Kane, the band"s vocalist and ukulele player. Barely able to believe their good fortune, things start to go off the rails when they begin to attract unwanted attention.
