The documentary film Our Marriages (75 minutes) tells life stories of lesbians marry gay men in China in the Millennium. Up to 90% of gay men marrying heterosexual women in China, according to The Economist 2010. Our Marriages looks into lives of four young lesbian women from Shen Yang, a metropolitan city in the North East of China between 2011-2013. Listening to their stories, their views on their sexual identities and love affairs, their marriages with gay men and the pressures from parents, and the cultural, economic and social surroundings they live in, the film tries to understand marriages, how do people negotiate and manipulate homosexual desires and identities in the compulsory heterosexual society in modern China.
